Frequently Asked Questions

How do I invite people to answerJam?

Click on the 'Invite a Friend' link at the top of the page. At the moment, the number of friends you can invite is five, but as answerJam grows, we'll be opening it up to all.

I've forgotten my password. Can i get a new one?

Sure thing. If you’ve tried to login and failed, then just click on the ‘Have you forgotten your password?’ link

I want to edit some of the information about myself. How do I do that?

Click on the ‘My Profile’ link at the top of the page. From that page you can edit any of the posts you’ve made, and to edit your profile, click on the link ‘It’s all about me’.

So no-one can tell who I am when I post or comment?

That’s right. They’ll only be able to see your username, so be careful about what details you reveal about yourself. When you send out an invite to a friend to come join the community, they’ll know that the invite came from you (so it doesn’t seem like spam!) but they’ll not know your user id.

I don't have an account yet. How do I check if the username I want is taken?

It’s a case of just plugging it in and seeing whether it’s taken. If it is, you’ll be asked to try again.

What is a Not Safe for Work Post?

'Not Safe For Work' applies to posts or comments that, for one reason or another, might not be appropriate for all audiences. When you make a post, you can check the box marking it like that. It's to help those of us who are reading this in the office out. Just think about whether you’d like your boss to ask you what you’re looking at…

What is an Abusive Post?

Any post that is generally offensive, abusive, libelous, or slanderous will be considered an Abusive Post and can be flagged and taken down by any registered member of the community.

What happens when a post is flagged as abusive?

1. An email gets sent to the answerJam team
2. We take a look at the post.
3. If we consider it offensive, then we’ll take it down. We endeavor to do this as quickly as possible.

Can I appeal if my post has been taken down because it was considered abusive?

Yes. Please go to contact us, http://www.answerjam.com/contactus , and select the Appeal Abusive Post option. State your screen name and title of the post you are appealing, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

I want to ask something, but it’s not covered here.

Sorry about that! If you’ve got any further questions, go to http://www.answerjam.com/contactus
