Why do I feel less alive with each passing year?

I could swear I felt more emotion when I was younger. It irritates me that I feel only a fraction of the emotions I remember having in the past. It feels like I'm just so accustomed to life that nothing interests me anymore; there's no newness left to excite me :( I also think that the more activities you do against your own will, the less likely you will become what you want to be.

it's also a GOOD thing, i've discovered 9in my 5th decade)... i know now, for example, the nature of true sadness, rather than youthful reactions. i am sad right now, but glad for it being real, so i know when i'm happy, it's real too

Honey you have do something out of the ordinary to feel alive again....go out and do something that you have never done....nothing crazy but go some place random, never been to paris? go! just pack up and go! go to a city you have never been and pretend to have some accent, go out and be someone else....life can be tough but you can get through it. or write a book because if you feel like you arent interested in anything it seems like you have done everything...ill be the first person to buy the book.

From what I've noticed "falling in love" (note:different feeling than "loving") it is the same at all ages or it can become stronger.

By the way try to read "The power of now" - good book.

down up

I think it's part of growing up. Things aren't as much of a mystery. You can SEE what's wrong with the world. And you think too much about the future.

Children have an amazing capacity to live in the present and their single-minded focus is what makes them able to have such excitement and happiness.

Honestly, I had the same sort of feeling earlier.. a couple of years ago. I thought there was no point in living because everything just got more and more stagnant and boring.

But now, I know better. :)

There's so much you can do with your life if you only grab hold of it and run forward! Stop contemplating the future and live each day as it comes! I know it's hard, and it may take a while to get used to, but it will make all the difference. :)

Go on a vacation for a year? Do something out of the ordinary.

create a "bucket list" great movie by the way! what is your passion in life? when you discover what your life purpose is than how can you be stuck....
