ok, a buddy of mine has blown me off 3 times for dinner -- this time, i literally had him call and say he's on the way, and i went ahead and ordered for two... and then he "gets a call from the wife". and i'm pissed off, very full, and don't know if i should do same to him, or just shun.

I think you should just call him out about it. Ask him if he just doesn't want to see you. Is there some kind of issue in your friendship? Try to think for any reason he'd be avoiding you.

don't shun or do the same, just ask him what's up or what's wrong. ironically he probably needs more attention or a different kind if something is changing. if you offer that and he still rejects it, move on. he is unable to properly participate in a friendship with you right now.
