ok, i've now lived longer in California than anywhere in my life (40 years and more), and it amazes me -- not the fact that we have the highest taxes, worst schools, biggest debt, craziest people... ok some of that... but, i sometimes can't belive the little things.
like we spend far more and have more people in prison that all but 4 countries. more in prisons than college.
and it's against the law to talk or text while driving... not a bad law. but you can bike without a helmet, and maybe the most california thing of all -- people can and do drive, legally, with their dog on their lap, but would get pulled over if fido was a cell phone.
we deserve this.
