Let's Save Some $$....No...Let's Blow $$ On Shit We Don't Need!
Posted October 1st, 2008 by MyDarkSide
2 weeks out of ever month, our household barely scrapes by. Not a big deal, really, but it is a significant amount of time when there are groceries to buy for a family of four, bag lunch items for two kids to purchase, gas for 2 cars, etc. I want to save money from the pay period where we have extra, instead of going spendcrazy with it by going out to eat, buying gadgets we don't need, or other bullshit. It really pisses me off. Hubby is in his 50's, I'm in my 30's. I want to put money aside, and he wants to buy 'toys'. Sad.

Money is a tricky issue even with young couples. Saving vs. spending - it just goes on with no solution in sight and you just hope that it won't result in an argument yet again.
The only way out is talking. Don't ask him to totally give up on his spendings, rather chalk out a middle path. Let's say both of you agree to save a small amount of money in a month, set goals for yourselves. And slowly increase those savings goals, by a very small amount so that he doesn't feel that it is yet another way of you doing your own thing.

Over fifty and can't support you? What's he done with the past 30 years? Now he wants to buy toys? What were you thinking when you married this guy?
