I'm pissed off at the world right now. I mean, if you want to make a big deal out of racial differences, fine. Regardless of the fact that we're all PEOPLE, dammit...I guess it's up to personal choice how big of a deal it is. ANYWAY, if you're going to do that, don't be hypocritical about it! I'm all for people calling themselves Hispanic-American, Italian-American, or whatever (regardless of when their ancestors actually got here), but then you can't turn around and make generalizations! For example--you can't call someone 'black.' That means nothing. Their people could be from anywhere! And my pet peeve? I'm called 'white.' Just 'white.' Which doesn't mean ANYTHING about my culture or my people--these hypocrites are doing what they're preaching against! Referring to me by the color of my skin!

damn right -- a wise man once said he dreamed of a day when his children would be judged by the content of their character, rather than the color of their skin". He was killed for the color of his. 1968 -- and i was born that year. might be better now, but long way to go. be good to all people, and judge them on who they are, not what -- that's my mantra

understandable, but regardless of social stigma or moral injustice, the color of your skin remains a distinguishing adjective. you need to deal with that if you are in a room full of black ppl and theres one white girl, shel be referred to, or pointed out in conversation as the white girl. same in any reveresed situation.
taking something that is only meant as a description, not a definition, is bringing racism onto yourself. im sorry that we cant all have stamps that say- im german, or im dutch instead of the obviousness of being white, but thats just how it is

I agree on the problem with being Politically Correct in America today. The term African - American is too inaccurate: Jamaicans who live in the United States, pretty much anyone north of the Sahara in Africa, and the descendants of Boers who live in the U.S. are all kind of left out of that, or should be but technically aren't.
I haven't had any problem with saying black. Myself, I don't mind being called white - we don't get the brunt of discrimination - though I do sometimes insist on being called Scots-Irish for the hell of it.
