ok, maybe i give customer service people too much rope, but when the call is finally done, and my long wait time on hold results in some outcome of the issue, NEVER then try to sell me more shit OR offer me the opportunity to give feedback. just f*king hang up.

I've worked in a call center before as a customer service rep and in some places it's a requirement of your job to sell to people. I wasn't allowed to hang up on the person and I had to make at least 3 sales attempts unless the customer sounded pretty pissed then I could slide by without forcing a sale on anyone. Believe me when I tell you that part of the job sucked. We'd get a review every month and if you didn't make the quota you didn't get a raise and you got serious feedback. Managers actually sit down with their employees and listen to their calls to make sure you're making the best sales offers and sales attempts. I hate sales pitches too and the best thing you can do is take it was a grain of salt and keep saying no. Don't give an excuse because that's an opening for a counter sales attack, they will pounce on that. At the last resort, just hang up yourself because where I worked the customer had to hang up first.
